Getting married is one of the most exciting things you will do in your life and at St Bon’s we want to help make your wedding day as perfect as possible. Please get in touch for more details about how we can help: from the actual wedding or choosing your readings to hiring our hall for your reception.
As Catholics we believe that marriage is at the heart of God’s plan of us. The Bible tells us how God created the first man and woman, Adam and Eve, and gave them the gift of marriage, commanding them to ‘go forth and multiply’. Jesus himself blessed the couple at Cana on their wedding day with one of his first miracles. He also said that what God has joined together no one should divide. These Bible passages help us understand that Marriage is sacred and that God intends it to be a source of new life, with the gift of children.
Confession is available between 5.00pm – 5:40pm Saturday evening before the first Mass of Sunday, and on appointment at other times. Please check our Mass times page for any one off changes.
For Catholics the main focus of confession is the mercy and forgiveness of God. No one finds going Confession easy. To tell someone our deepest secrets, our faults, what we have done, and what we have failed to do can be really hard. But we say all these things trusting in the total forgiveness of God for us. The Sacrament of Confession is among the most beautiful things we can do.
Along with getting married having children is one of the most exciting and life changing things that will happen to you. For many Christians getting their children baptised is an important moment. Baptism brings us into the family of God by freeing us from original sin. Christians believe that everyone is born with ‘original sin’, that is a sin brought into the world when Adam and Eve turned away from God in the Garden of Eden. Only in the death and resurrection of Jesus was that sin overcome. That is why Christians baptise in the name of Jesus, it is only in him that we can be freed of original sin and brought into the life of God. Baptism marks the beginning of our journey into eternal life.
If you would like to get baptised or you are enquiring about getting your child baptised please do not hesitate to contact us for more details or Baptism Preparation dates and then come say hi to Fr Tom after mass on a Sunday. Please click for mass times.
Losing a loved one can be devastating. Jesus himself experienced bereavement, we are told in John 11:35 that Jesus wept for his friend Lazarus. The Church shares your sorrow for the death of your loved one, and at St Bonaventure’s we wish to do all we can to support you.
We are used to conducting Funeral Masses for the Repose of the Soul of loved ones. If you need to arrange a Funeral, please do not hesitate to give us a call on 0117 942 4448.
